MY EXPERIENCE AT DAVIS CAFETERIA PORT HARCOURT

I've been in Port Harcourt for a few days and decided to go about town and we ended up at Port Harcourt Mall, a bit ravenous we decided to get something to eat so we stopped by Davis Cafeteria because as I was walking by the dishes on people's plates just kept calling me, calling me....I had to answer the call!

AMBIANCE & HOSPITALITY
Ambiance was pretty decent-it was a a food court so there were other restaurants in close proximity. The tables and chairs were laid out and there wasn't an enclosing for a private moment-open view sturvs. Now let's talk about hospitality....

fa fa fa fowl! Nothing.

We sat at a table and had to almost plead to be attended to-it was annoying. Sometimes when we needed maybe an extra spoon, no one was around to take the order. One time I tried to catch one of the waiter's eye so he could attend to us, he quickly turned away and next thing started pressing phone... hospitality, customer service is zero!

WHAT WE HAD
Now on to more interesting things, we had three platters of food. When I sat down, I surveyed the plates around me and proceeded to ask anyone with an appetising plate what they ordered. LOL. It was weird... because it did look good. I'm glad that was what I did because by the time I was given the menu, more than half of the items listed did not exist and when I asked "what is your kiwi smoothie made up of", the response I got was "we have chapman" I was very confused. I asked more than 3 times and I got nowhere. I just said  "Give me what that man over there is eating"...Menu was so confusing.

We ordered for Chapman, it was okay tasting. Uncle Junior had that and Tito even took a sip. He seemed to like it.

I ordered for a drink called Vitamin C where was a mix of citrus flavours and was served with a big chunk of apple. Errr I didn't like that it came just slightly cold...I was hoping for really chilled smoothie - maybe no fuel to turn on their generator  :/

Bobo ordered for a Kiwi but this was the content of the kiwi-watermelon and beetroot. LOL. What was it named Kiwi?

Now to the dish, Bobo got Chicken, Chips, Coleslaw and a bit of stew was slathered on top the Chicken. I tasted it and liked it.

I've had a thing for snails lately so I ordered snails and it came with Spicy tomato sauce, Chips, Coleslaw. The ketchup was unusually sweet...sugar maybe?

Uncle Junior had Peppered Gizzard and it  I actually enjoyed it. It came with Chips and Coleslaw too.

DAMAGE DONE
Like a fast food, you have to pay before you are served and I think the price was okay. Each drink was N1000, and each platter was N1500. In total we spent about n7,500 for me, Bobo, and Uncle Junior.

Would I go there again? Well, if I was at the mall and need something to eat, yes. But I wouldn't drive all the way from my house there (If I lived in PH ).

Have you been there before? What was your experience like?

Ps. Don't forget I have a massive giveaway HERE!

  1. I live in PH. Personally, I like their food and pricing but I don't like the sitting arrangements. When ever I'm at the Mall and I have to eat I go there. For the customer service, it's really zero. It's better you go to the counter, place your order and take it to your sit.

  2. But Sisi these pictures are very upscale for the "poor" service you had. Hahahahahaha we need more feedback like these on my website I want to start a column called clean spots since we don't have HoReCa people who go round shutting down food places with dirty environments and bad service we the customers need to take the bull by the horn.

  5. I completely believe you on the part of poor service. Nigerian businesses are notorious for having 0 customer service. It's almost as if it's encoded in our DNA, because even Nigerian owned businesses abroad are that way as well. People act as though they are doing you a favor by you coming to their establishment to spend your money. At least the dish you were able to get worked out in the end.

  15. I'm based in PH, so I'm familiar with Davis Cafeteria. When they opened initially their customer service & food was great. I actually stopped going there when their meals became unpredictable. As in you couldn't be sure if it would be good or not until you tasted it. Especially their chicken. Sometimes it felt as if it was already going bad before they started preparing. So I'm surprised that customer service has also joined the queue. The owner had better revamp quickly before they go under.

  17. That menu is hilarious! the names have nothing to do with the ingredients!! Now I want peppered gizzard...

  18. The food seems okay for the price, and it looks good. Your pictures make everything pop, like some ghen-ghen meals. But you're right. Who'd leave their house and drive all the way for chips and gizzard on a normal day? They need to fix that their drinks menu sha. Why is Kiwi the name of a smoothie that has no kiwi? LOL

  19. The food looks good and the price reasonable! As for bad service that one is almost everywhere in Nigeria so don't give yourself headache just eat your food and be happy!

  21. Funny thing a year after this post was made, they are still like that. Good tasting food, poor customer service. All it takes is for another establishment with great tasting food and great customer service to open in that same food court and all those cute green chairs will be empty.
