YORUBA ROMANCE- A STAGE PLAY! (EVERY SATURDAY THIS OCTOBER)

From the Producers of “The Wives“ (which was amazing by the way!) and the Artistic Director of the British Council’s Lagos Theatre Festival comes another wonderful production of the play called YORUBA ROMANCE every Sunday in October at Terrakulture. This epic comedy is about a Marriage proposal gone wrong

Ladoja wants to marry Ynneka a.k.a Nneka, Chief Evan's daughter! His attempt to propose is met with an unexpected response about who owns what lands and horses!

Find out how the proposal went in this hilarious comedy "Yoruba Romance"

Mr. Terrence, writer of the play has said the play is an adaptation of a Marriage Proposal, the 17th century Russian play by Anton Chekhov, a is a hilarious comedy about the age-old mating ritual between man and woman.

According to him, the play employs the use of different kinds of humor to explore some of the more deep-seated prejudices we have concerning inter-tribal relationships

1.  I don’t like sharing my personal stuff, I will not share my spoon, clothes, jewellery, towel, sponge, makeup brush…no matter how close we are. I don’t like sharing personal items! I'm very content with my own.

"THE MAN IS SWEET LIKE AN OREO" - IYANYA RELEASES NEW STEAMY VIDEO "MR OREO"

Is the man sweet as an Oreo? After weeks of anticipation and intense expectation, Triple MG frontline artiste, Iyanya, releases the video to his banging hit track “Mr Oreo”. One of the tracks off the Triple MG album,

“Mr Oreo” was produced by in-house producer, Selebobo. The video, directed by Mega Boi, is a compilation of pictures with a seductive, flirty feel to it, just as the song itself describes. With a flurry of pretty, classy girls, flirting and swaying with Mr Oreo himself, the video is definitely worth the hype

What do you think of the video? All I know is I suddenly need an Oreo and a hot cup of Foreign Ground Coffee!

SO MANY GODFATHERS EVERYWHERE IN NIGERIA; WHERE ARE THE GODMOTHERS?

"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women." - Madeline Albright, Former US Secretary of State in her Keynote speech at the Celebrating Inspiration luncheon with the WNBA's All-Decade Team, 2006

I have enjoyed many privileges of speaking to and engaging Women of various ages, classes and sizes at different fora and usually, in my openings, I would pose a quick question to the audience; "Can all the women in this room who believe they were MADE BY WOMEN please indicate by a show of hands?" I most often will see just a few hands lost in the crowd jostling for attention. And then I switch the question, "Where are the Women who were MADE BY MEN?" Then, PRONTO, there'll be hands, palms and fingers in plenty, many of their owners smiling, with almost a feeling of certain superiority and maybe a sense of guilt too.

I have been bothered for a while now and I have made effort to lead this conversation in my public and private spaces but before we head along on this dialogue, YES, I was made by WOMEN but I must confess, it was a few Men who kick started me.

MONDAY CHIT-CHAT : FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

Hello people! How body? Hope you’re all doing well? My weekend was great I spent it kissing Tutusco….LOL. Well, she’s great company unless when she’s crying, or when she’s been fussy and wants to sleep, or when she wants rough play, I just jejely hand her over to Uncle Yom-Yom. Lately I’ve been calling Bobo Uncle Yomi, reminds me of those older couples that call their husbands “Daddy, Daddy Kinikan” and the man too will call his wife “Mommy”…is that romantic? Will that be me someday???? I shudder!

I didn’t get up to much this weekend… how can I when it started raining heavily on Saturday morning? Me I just shook myself under the duvet and change my sleeping gear…by the time I was ready for anything it was past 4: 00pm.

POKELLO LAUNCHES SHOE COLLECTION NAMED AFTER EX BBA HOUSEMATES: MEET #POKELLOPINKBOTTOMS!

Pokello announced on twitter yesterday that she was launching her shoe line, see I was following her updates closely not because I have a shoe fetish but because I love Pokello's legs, she has beautiful legs and can model any shoe! She also has fabulous milk and honey skin...she can start a business as well in skincare, i'll buy. I'm getting distracted, back to #PokelloPinkBottoms

What was fun was that she named them after her fellow ex BBA housemate females, she sourced inspiration from 3 of her favourite designers, Sophia Webster for her feminine and soft colours, Sergio Rossi for his seductive shapes and elegant lines and of course Christian Louboutin for his signature trait and dizzy heights.

3 LESSONS YOU CAN LEARN FROM LINDA IKEJI !

I actually believe there are lessons you can learn from her...it's not just about the money, the cars, the houses. (even if it is, nothing do you). You can find inspiration from anything and today I am sharing that with you! Few days ago  I saw Linda Ikeji posing with one of my dream cars (I dream of a TUNDRA and a RANGE ROVER) and I was just smiling...the babe don try. Nod if you agree.

Fail Fast: I stumbled on a sermon from a pastor on Channels TV and he was saying that if you knew you'd have to fail 7 times before achieving success (success is relative) what would you do? Fail once a year or fail rapidly through one year so you know you're hitting success next abi?

NIGERIANS PORT FROM WHATSAPP TO PALMCHAT

The Nigerian demographics age 16-25 are aggressive adopting the PalmchatTM social platform over WhatsappTM for their daily online social engagement reports analysts.

“It is quite interesting to know that even though Whatsapp appears to be more popular globally, in Nigeria we see quite the contrary in trend. Nigerians are highly social people; they are not afraid to connect with other people that are total strangers and Palmchat’s fusion of instant messaging with online dating seems to be a key influencer for the adoption of its platform by millenials.” Ravajk Pesh, online social analyst said.

While a lot of young Nigerians would so easily opt to chat with someone new online, the Palmchat social platform has retained its sense of freshness amongst the young Nigerian minds by constantly driving engaging campaigns on their platform.

Tiaras are all it takes

ANGRY BABE DRAGS BOYFRIEND ON THE FLOOR IN YABA

LMAO… I think she’s had enough; you can't just take a girl to the mall on a date and all you do is bury your head on your phone chatting the moment away I mean c’mon which Lagos babe wouldn’t snap? Me I will snap o, seriously. This spy shot of a thug-of-war between two supposedly lovebirds have been trending online for a while now.

Those who really know the full story said that the not-so-fortunate dude owe his girl friend a long overdue explanation for his divided attention and mischievous laughters while chatting with his phone. His girlfriend who had endured the excruciating wait for some quality time from her man had begun to share her moments from a movie they had seen at a cinema when her man switched to his Palmchat mode (eyes fixed on the phone screen and fingers punching letters from the phone’s key pad). The poor girl demanded for the attention she deserved politely at first…you heard that, politely.

The dude apologized and put his cell phone on sleep mode while his girl resumed her talking. In less than 5 minutes our guy pulled out his phone while his babe was looking him straight in the eyes, flicked the cell phone’s function button and returned to his Palmchat mode; this time sending several loud chuckles to whoever he was chatting up. This was when all hell broke loose.

SPICE ROUTE LAGOS - REVIEW!

In my Monday Chit-Chat post I told you all of how the lovely Tuke invited me to Spice Route for lunch, she wanted to take me out as wedding gift to Bobo and I. I was very very very happy about that especially as I've heard a lot about the place. I pass it often on Adeola Odeku and I always wondered..."what goes on there".... I remember when Kemi Adetiba complained about the restaurant saying they didn't allow her enter because she was unaccompanied by a man: that made me scared. `Now that I've been there I can probably understand why: the place is filled with expatriates and they are being careful not to turn it into a semi-brothel...they are probably trying to keep it clean. I get that. I still think it is a bit discriminatory sha.

RAY RICE ELEVATOR KNOCKOUT: 4 QUESTIONS I HAVE!

Horrible things happen in an elevator: I thought the worse that could happen is me farting alone in one and then someone enters. But this video I saw today...chilled me to my bones. Here's the gist: Ray Rice is an NFL player. In this video we see him knocking out his then fiance, now wife unconcious.  If you watch the video properly you will notice that just one punch sent her to the ground and she hit her head against the rails... I try to imagine how painful that was, but I shudder!

Apparently before they got into the elevator she shoved him, when he first hit her in the elevator she hit back and then he gave a the fatal knockout. So, some people argue that he was provoked.

The incident took place Feb. 15th at the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. FYI, they got married a month after that.

Here are the questions I have:

1. Why did she go on to marry him about a month after that assault?
2. If a man (woman) hits you once, can they change?
3. Is provocation enough justification for physical violence?
4. Does verbal abuse always lead to physical abuse?

THE WIVES: DON'T MISS IT THIS WEEKEND!

THE WIVES
SYNOPSIS
Four Women, a Family and a Funeral.

The Wives returns to the stage this September full of mystery and intrigue. This dark comedy pulls a twist which will keep you at the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end. Cecilia, Angela, Tobi and Auntimi are four women trapped in a web of lies spun by their billionaire benefactor Gbadegeshin.

Accusations of murder, incest and inheritance fraud are rife between the women. This is further compounded by Gbadegeshin family insisting on upholding tradition. Prof Ahmed Yerima’s twist on this beautifully woven tale of polygamy is witty, humorous and full of lessons for all.

IS A FOREIGN MASTERS DEGREE REALLY WORTH IT? MY TAKE!

On my way home yesterday I was listening to the radio and the topic of the day was very interesting. Wanawana was asking if studying for a master’s degree is worth it and she requested that people call to share their opinion. I would have called but …I got home and headed straight for the kitchen. I had Ila Asepo and Amala on my mind so I continued listening while I cooked.

Shebi September is the time lots of students resume school and those travelling abroad for their masters are probably packing their bags now or still waiting for their acceptance letter or applying for visa. This was me a few years ago. After I finished uni (Igbinedion University) and I finished my NYSC, I had this burning desire to do masters by fire and by force, all my friends had traveled and I felt a masters degree would greatly boost my CV (which is not a lie). How I even got into University of Birmingham was a miracle because it was so impromptu…I applied late, applied for visa late and I resumed when everyone else had resumed so I had to catch up fast!
