MOTIVATIONAL BLOGGER KARYN WASHINGTON [FOR BROWN GIRLS] COMMITS SUICIDE.

Karyn Washington's blog (For Brown Girls) celebrated self-love, particularly among dark-skinned women. She was popular for the #DarkSkinRedLip project she launched after rapper A$AP Rocky mentioned that darker-skinned women should stay away from red lip colour avoid red lips. This encouraged girls/women all over ti post photos of themselves boldly wearing red lips! #DarkSkinRedLip

Unknown to many, Karyn was also fighting personal battles, after losing her mom to cancer in 2013 she battled depression even while empowering women of all races and colors Unfortunately Karyn Washington passed away on April 8 at the age of 22, reportedly committing suicide. This is hard to deal with for her family, friends and other bloggers.

As bloggers we need to also look out for one another because it is a community. If a blogger you read suddenly stops writing, if you have their contact details, try to find out why. Let'cs check up on each other. Also, this brings to light the mental health issues a lot of people face, let's spread the word about the realities of depression and mental illness.

RIP Karyn.

  8. Even The Bible says we should encourage one another. Nobody is a super hero. Even those we call when we have a bad time for encouragements even need encouragements the more. When you need help, pls ask for it. We are all humans. No one is perfect.
