MOVIE REVIEW: BAGGAGE CLAIM ... FEAT PAULA PATTON, TAYE DIGGS, JILLSCOTT, TREY SONGZ, DJIMON HONSOU, DEREK LUKE

I saw Baggage Claim a few days ago and since people kept asking about my opinion, I decided, why not?
So I'll give you the basics: Story story, once upon a time... LOL. This story is about Montana ( Paula Patton), an air hostess who is pushing 30, single, and her younger sister is about to get married before her, cliche right? There's more.

So she has the handsome, dark skinned neighbor William Wright, played by Derek Luke, who has always been her good buddy since high school, yet they never really had a relationship, he has a girlfriend though, played by Christina Milan who Montana catches cheating on him. Cliche? Hold on. Did you notice the emphasis on Wright?

Her friends, (sassy) Jill Scott and (gay) Adam Brody launched operation find a man for Montana in 30 days, they arrange for her to turn up ‘co-incidentally’ whenever any of her ex-boyfriends book themselves onto a plane, to see if any of them have since transmuted into Mr Right. She never finds Mr Right...why? Because the Mr Right she was looking for in Sokoto has been in her Sokoto all along. LOL Oh! So cliche! It doesn't end there...

The final scenes showed Montana running to catch a flight so her newly discovered Mr Right does not travel far far away, and when she gets to the airport it appears his flight is gone...feeling downcast and not looking where she's going, she bumps into him and then he proposes... right there. How romantic! And Cliche!

See ehn, this movie is as cliche as they come, but aren't most Romantic Comedy's? We all know how its going to end. We all know that the handsome neighbor is going to be Mr Right... why we are watching is the p-r-o-c-e-s-s. That being said, it's a good movie, I'd give it 3 Thumbs Up! I enjoyed mostly the hilarious conversations. There was a lot of laughter in the Cinema. I actually had a good laugh!

If you're doing nothing this weekend, then you should see it. It's showing at Silver bird Cinemas.

  4. So in short, it is glorified Nollywood in Hollywood...but with better sound/image quality. Apart from that, I'm a sucker for romantic comedy. Will check it out! Thanks for the review!

  6. My honest review: Star studded movie with subpar storyline and underdeveloped characters. I am a big fan of Derek Luke and I was somewhat disappointed with his performance.
