BUSINESS CARDS FOR BLOGGERS? WHY NOT ! 5 TIPS FOR A SMASHING BUSINESS CARD + GIVEAWAY!

Someone asked me a few days ago, why does a blogger need a business card? I want to share the answer. Why not? If you're a serious blogger you definitely need one: it's awesome at networking events. I have been invited to a couple of events and after networking people request for my business card so I always go with the popular excuse..."Oh sorry, my cards have been exhausted, I'm ordering new ones" ...L.I.A.R! Lol. Enough with this lie-lie life. I have come to a reasonable conclusion that I need a business card for SISIYEMMIE.COM as a #DoroBlogger.

When Printivo offered to send me some cards I was so lazy about it...it took about 4 months for me to finally decide to design one, and then I kept forgetting to finish the design everyday. They were too kind in their reminder and offered to design it for me. YAY! This lazy babe was happy! In a rush to have it done and over with I sent my details which included a phone number (for business purposes only), my email address, my blog address and my picture. In less than 3 days my cards had arrived; delivered to me. Oh the joy! I fell in love with them.

When I shared it on twitter @Sisi_Yemmie and instagram sisi_yemmie the responses I got were so positive: most people thought it was pretty cute *insert smug face* So today I am here to ginger you to create one for yourself [or win it as a giveaway from this post]....and if you have to design one, here are tips to help.

YOUR BLOG NAME : This should be the first thing you add, your Blog Name. All I had to do was lift the header on my blog. Really simples. You can choose to add your actual name: I didn't think for mine it was necessary. You might want to add a title too "Food Blogger", Tech Blogger", "Beauty Blogger"... I didn't add any to mine because I, ahem, I'm still defining who I am. -_-

YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS: Twitter? Facebook? Youtube? Add them all! I was in a hurry so I left out YouTube, but on my next order everything will be included. So go ahead an include all of that. Don't forget your google+

INCLUDE YOUR PHOTO: If you're not shy, then you should definitely add a photo of you on your blog business card, It doesn't have to big like mine, it can be just a cropped photo on a little corner of the card. What this does is that it makes your card personable and memorable. I'm vain...I like to stare at my face on my card, back when there were no pimples and I was quite lepacious...

BRAND IT: If you have a logo, include it on your card. I use majorly three colours on my blog, pink, teal and lime green and I requested for that to be included, and then that photo of me is almost like a logo, why not add that too as it is quite memorable. I also included the tagline of my blog "Living It: Blogging It" It's great if your blog design is consistent with your business card.
Scan it with a QR Code Scanner

CONTACT DETAILS: I included my twitter handle, blog url and a phone number, yes I'm comfortable putting that number out there because it is strictly for business purposes. I did not include an address because I did not think it was necessary. Perhaps if I had a shop I would have.

QR CODE: This is something I included in my original design but forgot to add on the card (because I was in such a haste). When these cards are exhausted I will order a new one that includes a QR code to my videos. This pink gibberish is what a QR Code looks like. You can create one by following this link QR Stuff . Benefits of having one? It is the future baybay and visitors can check out your links by just scanning it, scan mine and see!

At the end of the day, you want people to think "I cannot wait to see your blog if that's your business card"...It adds professionalism to it! I love my current cards so much and can't wait to redesign it as this was just my tester. I'd also love to giveaway 100 copies of a double sided business cards courtesy Printivo! All you need to do is leave your name, email address and a link to your blog/business! You have to be resident in Lagos to receive it oh. Mwaaaah!

How important do you think a business card is, especially for bloggers? What tips would you add to mine?

  21. I am so excited about this post. Having a business card is fun and I agree with your tips Sisi but you did not add 'blogger's name'. A blogger's biz card should be really creative.

  25. I love the fact that the edges are rounded, it adds a certain youthfulness and a fun vibe to the cards. I think the cards will be a bit too busy if you add the QR code. Simplicity is key and the design is appealing.
