MONDAY CHIT-CHAT: OVERWHELMED!

My people how body? As for me I am tired...waking up in the night to nurse e nor easy oh. Let's salut mom's who do it, especially the one's who have to wake up in the night, with no help, and then still have to go to work and huzzzzzle for the family. I salute every mom! And every dad that helps.

Last Friday was our baby's naming ceremony-I've never attended a full naming ceremony before so I didn't know what was expected. The process ours took was this: Pastors came and officiated the ceremony- shared  the word, prayed for the baby, took offering and gave it back to us (I was surprised at that part), announced the baby's names and prayed for him and all of us., item 7 and dance dance dance. That was how it went.

I know it's different in other places, even different from the traditional way of naming ceremonies. How is naming ceremony done where you're from? I've been wondering also if it's just Yoruba's that name after 7 days...why 7 days? Why not give mommy a chance to recover and at least look a bit like who she was before the belle enter. I felt like a whale in that buba I wore, of course my skin is about fifteen shades of black right now- my feet and hands are still puffy and I'm generally in discomfort. Why can't we wait one month for naming???  Glad it's done now sha- at least my smally now has an identity.

So here are his names:

Titobioluwa Oluwademilade Ithiel Odusanya
Titobioluwa - The Greatness of God
Oluwademilade - God Has Crowned Me
Ithiel (Hebrew) - God Is With Me

But you know Yoruba people always have a looming list of names donated by Uncles, Aunties and almost every family member that wishes to name the child. The entire list of names are on my instagram page. Oh gosh...I uploaded a short clip of his smile...so adorable! Click HERE to see!

I wonder what I'll call my baby on my blog. Maybe Chief? Since that's what we've been calling him at home. Chief for now until I figure out another name. I have so much in my head about being a new mom already so I guess that's going to be another new angle to my blog :D I need a makeover already!

Where are all the mommy's and mommy bloggers (I'm feeling overwhelmed and I have so many questions-i could use your experience)...let me know if you are one in the comments section below.

See ya, catch ya, later!

Thank you all so much for your well wishes.
Baby Titobi

  16. Yeahhhhh another mummy blogger in the house! The 7 day naming ceremony is actually biblical too. Check out Luke 1:59 which also talks about circumcision... Thought it was a Yoruba thing as well until I was corrected by a pastor! Congrats to you guys once again and looking forward to 'watching' Chief grow! xx

  17. Bear Hugs Yemisi...

I can imagine it is really overwhelming as a first time mom but the great thing is that when you see Titobi, you know he is worth it.
Nevertheless you also need to try to rest when he is asleep, do things you can and do not stress yourself about things undone because you need to heal too. A happy mom is a happy baby.
God is your strength. You might also want to be on the look out for someone that can assist with cleaning the house and running errands. There are people who can offer such services without living with you, depending on your preference. It is better so you can get familiar with the person before you go back to work.
You NEED help, pray to God to provide godly assistance for you
Soon you will establish a routine that suits you and little bobo
I am really happy for you
    God will see you through.
My two cents, I do not know if this helps. What do I know, I am a single lady...

  19. Congrats Sisi Yemmie. I'm a mummy of twins..they are 8months tomorrow...First pregnancy too. It gets better. But i bet Chief eats a lot as all boys do...if he doesnt then you're lucky. Being a mom is one of the greatest feeling ever! Have fun while he's so little now, cos the real work starts when he starts to crawl and you have to chase! Congrats again!

  20. Aww...such a cute smile. I've always wondered what babies smile about in their sleep. Anyways, welcome aboard Chief, it's great to have you here.
I'm mommy to a not-even-up-to-2yrs-old-yet who already has no fear for my mean face. He (for some reason) always finds it amusing and bursts into laughter.
Welcome aboard too Sisi, motherhood is an amazing (and very tiresome, lols) ride.

  32. Awww Sisi your baby is just too cute! And I love his names especially Ithiel- sounds like a name I could give my child. I'm a Mummy blogger. Check out my experiences @ www.preciouscore.com.

I'll advice you to rest when the baby sleeps so you don't get terribly tired. Keep nursing ooo for as long as you can. Breastfeeding is best! Talk to your baby as much as possible. This will build a bond and make him smarter. Most importantly, pray for him constantly- the devourer will not steal from IJN. I'm so happy for you! Motherhood rocks!

  44. Congratulations again Sisi Mummy. You boy is so cute. God bless him. Firstly, you need help around the house like someone had mentioned above. This will give you enough time for the baby and rest.
Secondly, Babies in the first few months do not know the day from night and all they do is Sleep, Eat, Play, Repeat. Once he is up you are up, once asleep, please sleep too. You will have to work with his timing for now. Make person no go develop Post partum blues from lack of sleep and tension.
Thirdly, please eat right or clean as much as possible and hydrate well. Following your six weeks post partum visit you can incorporate some light workout in addition to clean eating.
Please, check out www.babycentre.com, it has lots of information and tips your son is 5years.
Finally, enjoy motherhood. God bless your family.

  47. Congrats sisi, Ajoloruko pe. he has my first son's name, Oluwatamilore.
Accept all the help you can get.
Whenever baby is sleeping, try and rest even if you can't sleep, lay beside him.
As for the puffy fingers and legs, always stretch your legs, especially while breastfeeding you can sit and raise the legs with a side stool, just make sure you are very comfortable, put on loose slippers in the house.
you can check my blog, I have a yummy mummy corner:http://tytysmusings.blogspot.com.

  48. Congratulations! He is really cute. I also ask why naming ceremonies don't give new moms time to heal first. Don't worry about nursing at night, very soon he'll start sleeping all through the night.

  49. Congratulations sisi! how about you have a column for chief you know like wednesday baby and mum diary there you can share your experiences with chief growing, feeding, when chief first said mama and all that with fans.
You can get Pampers to sponsor the column since they do outreaches here they should be easy to convince so you have a new mummy column and say first to leave a comment gets a pack of pampers or something just a suggestion dear..but if this comes to light make sure i get my 10% lol.. Congratulations mummy tito! he's so cute and looks exactly like Bobo..
