NIGERIAN MEN : HERE'S HOW TO PLAN THE PERFECT PROPOSAL !

Get it right, this proposal is not about YOU! Don't say you don't like public display of affection -nobody ever died from PDA. Remember, it's not about YOU! Proposals all over the world are a big deal and most girls have been dreaming about one since they started growing teeth, YOU are that knight in shinning armour.  Chairman do something, pamurege!

THE PERFECT BLING: This is the biggest wahala and once you cross this hurdle you can never do anything wrong. If you are a sharp guy you would already know the kind of ring your babe likes, women give HINTS a lot, if you don't know then you've not been observant. Check her phone, do you see a saved DP or screenshot of any ring? What instagram photos has she been liking ? That might be it. If you cannot figure it out, employ one of her loyal friends to help you. The proposal ring deserves it's own post (coming soon) but make sure you're not cheap, save for the ring.

SURPRISE!!! : Women love to be surprised, don't be careless about this thing. You are trying to impress your babe, don't fall your hand. Don't now leave the receipt for the ring in your wallet when you know she will be checking. Don't make phone calls in the toilet when she's in the same house. Give her the surprise of her life. You want tears of joy when you propose? then surprise her. Most ladies who cry during their proposals never esperrrred it! See this lady even collapsed when Mr Right proposed. Guy, THIS.IS.WHAT.YOU.WANT!

BE ROMANTIC: Nigerian men, romance does not equal money. Be creative in your approach. It's not everyone that can afford to fly from England to Paris and catch a connecting cruise to the Caribbean proposing in the beautiful sunset. Cut your coat according to your cloth but don't just sit down and collect her hand and shook ring. Or put the ring inside folded eba, you are taking it too far. Try small. Plan a theme. Make her mushy. Remember, this proposal is about HER and how you want HER to feel. Do you want her screaming YES! YES! YES!!! ? Then be romantic. (You can consult me for romantic tips).

DO IT FOR THE GRAM: This is 2015, you HAVE to HAVE a professional photographer nearby to capture that moment. A feature on BellaNaija Weddings won't hurt and she would LOVE it! That moment: you on one knee, her one hand covering her mouth, tears ruining her mascara, and her friends snapping away is something you HAVE to capture for Instagram! That picture she would tag "I SAID YES!

  4. Sisiyemmie oo! It's true that it's not everyone that can afford to travel out to propose. Although I'd prefer a quiet proposal with a hidden camera *winks*.

  6. Lmaooo... as an avid reader who came on here to jejely read what sisiyemmie has to say about this issue, imagine the shock on my face when i saw my proposal picture last? Lmaoo i actually froze ni sha. Hahaha. ..

I 100% agree with everything you've said o. Lots of these men stay thinking it's about them. Lol. Nahh boo, it's about her! Except you're both genuinely low-key, chances are she wants something thoughtful and surprising. It doesn't even need to expensive! My boo did beyond my expectations! ! I'm still a happy girl! Yes, i would still have said "yes" without the "serenre" but the "Serenre" made saying YES much more fun. Lol . Thanks for posting us!

  7. I don't care about the cost of the ring ,all I want is a romantic getaway and of course the proposal has to be a topmost SURPRISE ,yea surprises makes me cry laugh and scream. It takes much more than ordinary gift to impress me.

  9. 'Perfect' is relative.. All that have been enumerated are what you see everywhere.. Yawn! You don't need to capture the moment for public consumption. People should concentrate on more serious matters. Proposing, kneeling, giving the most blinged out jewellery, hiring an orchestra, having pre photos are seriously unnecessary. If you've been married some good amount of years then come back and celebrate it and not celebrate being engaged.. Anybody can get married but not everyone can stay married.

    1. Very true! I myself would just prefer a low key proposal. In house proposal would be perfect. Not everybody cares for glamour or attention.

    2. I totally agree.I dream of a proposal where we are watching TV and eating popcorn(in the house) and then he proposes.Private,no wondering if my hair is perfect.I do not like surprises at all,it leaves me speechless and not in a good way. The only thing is I want my ring customized by my husband to be with no input from close pals(let's see if he has been paying attention) hehehe

  16. It doesn't matter whether you think a ring is fine - find out what SHE wants. Think of the ring long term... In 10 years you won't feel the extra cost. My wife's ring cost me a bit, but I've never looked at it on her finger and gone "I wish I didn't spend that much money"
